This BMW R90 cafe racer is part of a range of classic boxer twin motorcycles that were first introduced by the BMW headquarters in Germany from 1974 to 1976. Like the other five, this R90 is air-cooled, four-stroke, and has an internal combustion engine with a domed cylinder head (hemi engine). The engine is an r90, meaning it has a 898 cc version, built and located around a one-piece tunnel crank-case.

The complete black donor bike was bought with no intentions of turning it into a cafe racer, until Chus, its owner, came across Cafe Racer Dreams. He decided to rebuild. Chus made it clear that he was in love with the heritage of the r90, hence keeping it old school was a must. The main goal was to build a factory cafe racer style bike with improvements in all aspects whilst keeping its origins visual.

The engine was completely overhauled, taken apart, restored and refreshed. The rear shocks were custom-made at CRD and re-positioned. The old BMW brakes were replaced, and the entire motorcycle was taken a level up with its Moto-gadget M-unit re-wiring. The battery was replaced to ensure a smooth electronic ignition kickstart and placed strategically so that it cant be seen for visual purposes. A Motogadget speedometer was fitted to the bike. The height of the bike was pushed up to ensure a more comfortable ride. The main sign of identity of the bike is its custom CRD green color which resembles the classic Land Rover color way. We replaced the old wheels for Firestone Deluxe Champion tires and adjusted a custom CRD black-leather seat to its custom subframe to seal the deal.

With CRD109 we made sure to respect the character and history of its donor bike. This is evident with the naked engine, stock BMW fenders, and its characteristic factory-looking fender braces, and keeping its original tank pads on the sides.
